Gutter Questions, Answered
The questions Rincon homeowners ask us most. If yours isn't here, call (843) 783-6816.
Do You Serve All of Rincon?
Yes. This company is focused on Rincon, Georgia. The crew comes over from Hardeeville, just across the Savannah River.
My Gutters Overflow in Heavy Rain. What's Wrong?
Usually one of three things: they're clogged, they're too small for the roof, or the pitch runs the wrong way. A clogged downspout elbow causes it too. Look for debris in the gutter first. If it's clean and still overflowing, it's a size or pitch problem, and we can tell which at a visit.
Why Do You Install 6-Inch Gutters Instead of 5-Inch?
A 6-inch gutter carries much more water than a 5-inch one and pairs with larger downspouts. Coastal Georgia storms dump a lot of rain fast, and on most roofs 6-inch keeps the water in the gutter.
What Are Seamless Gutters?
Gutters formed on site from a coil of metal, so each straight run is one continuous piece cut to the exact length of the wall. There are no joints along the straight sections, which is where store-bought sectional gutters usually leak.
How Often Should I Have My Gutters Cleaned?
Twice a year is common. Homes under heavy pine or oak cover often need three cleanings a year.
Are Gutter Guards Worth It?
If you have pines or oaks over the roof and you're cleaning more than twice a year, usually yes. If there are no trees near the house, you may not need them. Guards reduce cleaning but don't end it.
Do You Require a Deposit?
No. You get a free written estimate with the full price, and payment is due when the job is finished.
What Warranty Do You Offer?
New gutter installations carry a 15-year warranty. Helder will give you the written terms with your estimate.
Do You Use Subcontractors?
No. Every job is done by Helder's own crew, and Helder inspects every finished installation.
Do I Need a Permit For Gutter Work in Rincon?
Building permits inside the city are handled by the City of Rincon Building and Zoning office at 302 S. Columbia Avenue. Gutter work on an existing house usually doesn't need one, but call them to confirm if it's part of a larger project.
Can I Clean My Own Gutters?
On a one-story house with a sturdy ladder and a helper, yes. Scoop debris out by hand and run a hose down the downspouts. On a two-story house, or if the roof is steep or wet, call us.
What Affects The Cost of New Gutters?
Total length, number of stories, corners and downspouts, material (aluminum, galvalume, or copper), whether old gutters have to come down, and whether you add guards. We price every job in writing after seeing the house.
